If your Gather-to-Google Sheets export process completes the connection steps but the final file doesn't generate, the issue is likely due to a temporary block in the transfer between your browser and Google Drive.
Here are the fastest solutions to get your export running:
1. Reset the Google Connection Key (Often the Best Fix)
The secure "key" Gather uses to access your Google Drive may have been interrupted. Forcing a fresh connection often clears this kind of block, especially if other team members are not experiencing the same issue.
Go to your Google Account Security settings.
Tip: Search "Google security" on Google or look for Third-party apps with account access.
Find Gather in the list and click to revoke its access.
Return to Gather and try your export again. You'll be prompted to re-grant permission, which establishes a new, reliable connection.
2. Check Your Browser & Login State
Your browser's settings or a conflicting login is a very common place for the data transfer to get stuck.
Try Incognito: Run the entire export process in a private/incognito browser window. This is the quickest way to test if conflicting cookies or extensions are the cause.
Clear Cookies: If Incognito works, manually clear your browser's cache and cookies to remove old, conflicting session data.
Single Login: If you use multiple Google accounts (work and personal), make sure you are only logged into the one account you want to export to. Log out of all others before trying the export.
3. Verify Drive Access and Space
It's possible to select a folder even if Google won't allow a new file to be created there.
Try a New Folder: Don't export to a complex shared folder right away. Instead, try selecting a simple folder in your personal "My Drive" as a test. This removes folder-level permission issues from the equation.
Check Storage: Please check your Google Drive storage to ensure you haven't hit your limit. If the drive is full, Google will prevent the new spreadsheet from being saved.
