Extensions are designed to update automatically in your browser without any action needed on your part. However, an update may occasionally be delayed if the new version is still being rolled out by the developer across users.

In rare cases, a handful of factors outside a developer's control can disrupt the auto-update process. If an extension seems outdated despite expecting an update, you can take matters into your own hands. Here is how to manually check if an update is available and force an extension to update if needed:

To find the version number of your extension in Google Chrome, follow these steps:

Step 1: Click on the puzzle piece icon, then select "manage extensions."

*Note: This may look slightly different if you are using another browser.

Step 2: Enable the toggle for "Developer mode" at the top right of the page. You only need to turn this on temporarily, and it will not affect any of your other extensions or web pages.

Step 3: A new set of buttons should appear at the left of your screen. Click the " Update " button underneath the "Extensions" header at the top left.

Step 4: After clicking this button, wait about 30 seconds. You may see the version number of your extension increase if there is an update. Once updates have been completed, finish the process by turning off "Developer mode" at the top right of the page.

Note: Once you have updated your clipper, you must log in the first time you relaunch it. You will use the same credentials you use to log in to your Gather account.
