Organize and filter Your Contacts with Tags

Add tags to the organizations in your Contacts (suppliers/manufacturers, contractors, clients, etc.) so you can filter and find what you need at a glance.

Written by Scottie Elliott

Tags help you quickly find the organizations you need, whether you're sourcing for a project or coordinating with your team. Apply tags like lighting, outdoor furniture, quick-ship, Net 30, favorites, etc., so you can filter hundreds of contacts down to the handful you actually need. This article covers creating tags, applying them, and filtering your Contacts list.

Setting up tags

You can create and edit tags in two places: from your account settings or from within an individual contact.

  1. Click your account menu in the lower left-hand corner.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Scroll to the Tags tab at the bottom of the settings menu.

  4. Click the green + sign to add a new tag.

  5. Give the tag a name. (For example: "Lighting," "QuickShip," "Net 30," or "Trade.")

  6. (Optional) Change the auto-assigned color.

  7. (Optional) Add a note. Notes appear next to the tag wherever it's shown, so this is a good spot for context like "ships in less than two weeks."

  8. Click Save.

Editing and deleting tags

To edit a tag, click the pencil icon next to it. To delete a tag, use the delete option in the same view.

The Use Count column shows how many of your contacts currently have the tag applied, so you can see what's affected before deleting.

Applying tags to a contact

  1. Go to your Contacts section.

  2. Click an organization to open it.

  3. At the top, click Add Tag.

  4. Check the tags you want to apply.

You can add multiple tags to a single organization. Once applied, tags appear next to the organization's name in your Contacts list, so you can see details like product categories, payment terms, or trade status at a glance.

Creating a new tag from within a contact

You don't have to go back to Settings every time you need a new tag.

  1. Open an organization.

  2. Click Add Tag.

  3. Type the name of the new tag.

  4. Save the tag.

The new tag is automatically applied to the organization you're in, and added to your tag list so you can use it on other contacts.

Filtering contacts by tag

  1. Click the filter icon at the top of your Contacts list.

  2. (Optional) Filter by contact type first (for example, Supplier/Manufacturer).

  3. Select the tag(s) you want to filter by.

Your list narrows to only contacts that match.

  1. To reset, click the filter icon again and select Clear Filters.
