Classification gives your team a consistent way to organize selections and record product information in Gather. You can structure it around the way your team works and groups products for specification packages and other deliverables.
Schedules and Types
Schedules are broad categories, such as Furniture, Lighting, or Flooring. They group related selections together and make it easier to export products by category.
Types organize selections within each Schedule. For example, a Furniture Schedule might include Chairs, Tables, and Sofas, while a Lighting Schedule might include Pendants, Sconces, and Track Lighting.
*When setting up your Schedules and Types, consider how your team organizes selections and the groups you’ll need for preparing deliverables.
Specification fields
Specification fields capture the information your team needs to describe each product. Fields can be shared broadly or tailored to particular selections:
Common fields for all Schedules capture information that applies to every product, such as Item Code.
Common fields within a Schedule capture information shared by its Types.
Type-specific fields capture details relevant to a particular Type.
For example, you might use Item Code across all Schedules, a shared Finish field within Furniture, and a Double Rubs field specifically for Upholstery.
Adding shared fields at the appropriate level helps keep information consistent and avoids setting up the same field repeatedly.
