Include or Exclude Selections from Project Totals

Choose which selections count toward your Area and Project totals.

Written by Scottie Elliott

Choose which selections count toward your Area and Project totals, so you can show your client several options without each one adding to the total. Which statuses count depends on your plan: Core and Core Plus, or legacy plans (Solo, Studio, Firm, Enterprise, Spec Lite, Spec Pro).

Which Statuses Count Toward the Total

Each selection's status decides whether its price is counted by default.

  • Core and Core Plus: selections set to Unspecified or Rejected aren't counted. Every other status is counted, including Budgeted, Proposed, and Approved.

  • Legacy plans: selections set to Unspecified or Disliked aren't counted. Every other status is counted, including custom statuses.

Note: Projects created before your company moved to Core or Core Plus can still use the legacy statuses.

Include a Selection in the Total

Selections you save with the Clipper start as Unspecified, so they aren't counted until you change the status.

  1. Open the selection.

  2. Change the status to one that's counted, like Proposed or Budgeted.

Include or Leave Out a Selection Manually

Use the Include in project total checkbox to count or skip a selection without changing its status. For example, you can set four pendant options to Proposed and count only one.

  1. Open the selection.

  2. Go to the Pricing tab.

  3. At the bottom, check or uncheck Include in project total.

See What's Included

  • Grid View: select Display at the top of your project and turn on the eye icon. Selections left out of the total appear grayed out.

  • Spreadsheet View: filter the In Total column. True means counted and False means left out.

Good to Know

  • Status changes: if you or your client change the status of a selection you unchecked, it's counted in the total again (unless the new status is Unspecified or Rejected, or Disliked on legacy plans). Uncheck Include in project total again to leave it out.

  • Extra options: once your client picks an option, archive the others so they don't affect your totals.
