Gather now offers two plans, Core and Core Plus. If you're on one of our earlier plans and curious what a move would mean for your current account, here's a quick overview.
What you gain
Both plans include:
All of Gather's current premium features
The Claude and ChatGPT connectors
The upgraded Clipper, which can replace or revise items already on your Product Board
Core Plus also adds Budgets and Orders.
What changes
Your day-to-day spec work stays the same. The differences come down to statuses, client approvals, and purchasing.
Statuses
Every account now shares one set of statuses. On Core Plus, statuses are tied to the order system, so they need to mean the same thing everywhere. Core uses the same statuses without the ones for purchasing and invoicing: Unspecified, Budgeted, Proposed, Approved, Rejected, and Installed. If you move up to Core Plus later, everything carries over.
Custom statuses are no longer available in new projects. To track your own internal workflow, use custom Product Tags instead. An item has one status at a time, but it can have as many tags as you need, and you can filter the Product Board by several at once.
Inside an item, the Status tab shows every status change. On Core Plus, it also shows the purchase order details from your orders.
Client approvals
You no longer choose which statuses your client can set. Clients can approve or reject items. To make their decision final, open Project Settings, select Clients, and under What Clients Can Do, turn off Clients can change their decision. A client who rejects an item then can't switch it to approved later.
Purchasing
On Core Plus, purchase orders come from Orders, so Purchase Order is no longer in the Export menu. You can still push invoices to QuickBooks.
Core is built for spec writing, so it doesn't include purchasing: no purchase orders, no order tracking, and no invoices to QuickBooks.
Components
We're rebuilding Components, so they aren't available on Core or Core Plus yet. They'll be back soon.
Your existing projects
When you upgrade, your existing projects keep their custom statuses. Every new project uses the new status system. Custom statuses don't turn into tags on their own, so if you'd like to keep any of them, add them as Product Tags in your account settings, under Tags.
Which plan fits
If your team uses Gather for procurement, choose Core Plus. If you only write specs, Core has what you need. You can try either plan for two weeks in a separate sandbox account before you switch. To get started, email us at support@gatherit.co.
