Meet Core

Specify products and organize your project information in Gather.

Written by Scottie Elliott

Core is where your team specifies products and keeps project information organized in Gather. It's for teams who only specify, and either manage purchasing in another tool or outsource it completely.

It gives you one place to collect items, set their details, share them with clients, and keep everything consistent from the first idea to the final selection.

Bring products in with the Clipper

Specifying starts with getting products into your project. The Gather Clipper brings them in from any website. It can also update items that already exist in your project, so your specifications stay current as product details change. See Update Existing Items with the Clipper.

Specify and organize your products

Every item in your project lives on the Product board. Open an item to see its tabs, which hold everything about it, like specifications, pricing, and attachments. Set each item's status as the design moves along, such as Proposed, Approved, or Installed.

Statuses on Core are ones you set yourself. The order statuses Ordered, Shipped, and Received are part of Core Plus, because they follow your purchase orders.

Add your own tags and filters

Use product tags to flag what matters to your team, such as Check Stock, Check Price, VE, or Needs Substitution. Then open Filters to narrow the board by status, area, tag, and more. If you prefer rows and columns, switch to spreadsheet view to see the same items with their tags and details. See Product Tags: Create and Manage Them and Filter Items by Product Tags.

Share and export

Export a spreadsheet, line item specifications, a spec package, spec sheets, an image grid, or reports. You can style your exports to match your studio's brand, with your own fonts, colors, and logo, and save the look to use again. See Exports Overview and Customize the Look of Your Exports.

Connect Gather to the rest of your workflow

Core includes the connection to Claude and ChatGPT, so you can ask questions about your project information from the AI tools you already use. It also includes the Public API, which a developer or a technical person on your team can use to connect Gather with other software. See How Gather works with AI assistants.

What Core doesn't include

Core doesn't include the procurement side: budgets, orders, and shipments. For teams that go a step further and purchase what they specify, that's what Core Plus adds. To see the two plans side by side, read Core vs Core Plus: What's Included.
